Chenou Zhang

Chenou Zhang joined the Ph.D. program in Physics in Aug. 2015. After working with Dr. Bill Graves on the design of a compact x-ray source he switched to work in the Becksteinlab where he focuses on the energetics of macromolecular conformational transitions.

Chenou obtained a B.Sc in 2015, majoring in Applied Physics, from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). His undergraduate research includes using synchrotron radiation on structure detection of nano-particles at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) supervised by Dr. Gang Chen and nano-material synthesis at USTC supervised by Dr. XiaoLiang Xu.

His research interests include free energy calculations, protein conformational transitions, and machine learning algorithms on big-data analysis. His current project aims to use enhanced sampling methods to understand and characterize transition pathways.
