Ben Folsom
Ben earned undergraduate degrees at ASU in Film Production and Physics. Ben graduated in Spring 2014 from the Nanoscience PSM program with a Masters degree.
He is starting a PhD in Physics at Lund University in the Department of Particle Physics. He will be working with the accelerator division of the new European Spallation Source to help develop computational control systems.
Carbon nanotube forests
He completed his applied masters project Density Functional Theory Simulation of Rhodium Nanoframes and Carbon Nanotube–Graphene Pillars in the lab. The project dealt with creating plausible models of carbon nanotube “forests” and hollowed metallic nanoframes, calculating interaction energies between the two, and addressing the limitations in existing techniques for simulating inorganic and graphene-based structures
