Our video showing how a sodium ion binds to the membrane protein NhaA in a molecular dynamics simulation is featured in the APS March Meeting 2015 Gallery. The simulation reveals the residues that are responsible for binding the ion and also unexpectedly showed that ion binding triggers breaking of a salt-bridge. Oliver Beckstein will be presenting this work in a focus session at the meeting on Wednesday, March 4.
